The word got adopted by adult content later, but its origin is a magazine built to tell larger women they were beautiful. Worth knowing, because it changes how you read the word.

BBW, SSBBW, BHM: how the family fits

The related terms aren't synonyms; they're more specific filters:

• BBW — Big Beautiful Woman. The general term for a plus-size woman.
• SSBBW — Super-Sized Big Beautiful Woman. The same idea at a larger size; "super-sized" is the only thing the extra S's are doing.
